Methodologically, the study articulates accounting series and internal inventories of the Province of India (e.g., summaries of colleges, residences, and expenses) to reconstruct resource flows, budgetary tensions, and forms of fund mobilization.
The main conclusions emphasize that the viability of the mission in Japan cannot be explained solely by local dynamics, but rather by the interdependence among missions, colleges, and economic circuits: the contribution of the Japanese mission and the Japanese diaspora emerges as a decisive factor both for the "unfolding" and for the institutional "settlement" in Tun Kim. The text thus demonstrates that the Jesuit expansion into Japan was sustained by global financial engineering, in which Macao and the Indian network functioned as essential platforms. |
