The analysis highlights how contacts mediated by Macau and the availability of maritime trajectories favored the choice of targets such as Siam and neighboring regions. It concludes that the mission in mainland Southeast Asia emerged as a project of continuity and adaptation of skills, resources, and expectations accumulated in the Japanese space, where evangelization and economy functioned as complementary dimensions of Jesuit action. |
