Together with the aforementioned petition, he presented the said *Alvará* for the Voyage of China, signed by His Majesty (may he rest in God's holy glory), without it having been passed through the Chancery, nor registered. And upon the matter being referred to the Crown Prosecutor, he responded that, regarding the dispensation sought by Bartolomeu de Azevedo Coutinho, justice should be done.

And because the Decree [Alvará] that was issued for this to his said father did not pass through the Chancery, Your Highness was pleased to order the insertion of a first and second marginal note [postila] therein, so that it might pass and be registered in the necessary places, notwithstanding the expiry of the time in which it should have been done. And because he, the supplicant, is now occupied in the service of Your Highness in the Province of Beira, and through the omission of his Proctors, the said Decree has still not passed through the Chancery, and the time designated for this has expired.
He requests that Your Highness grant him the favour of ordering a third marginal note, in conformity with the others, so that the said Decree may presently [be processed] as is the custom.
The said petition, and the Decree which it presented, were made available for review by the Crown Prosecutor, and he responded that justice should be done.
It appears to the Council that, considering what is contained in the petition of Bartholomeu de Azevedo Coutinho: Your Highness should be pleased to order that a third marginal note be inserted in the referred Decree, so that it may pass through the Chancery and be registered in the necessary places, notwithstanding the expiry of the time in which it is declared it should be done, and that this may give effect to the favour referred to in the same vacancy that is declared therein. And because the Decree [Alvará] that was issued for this to his said father did not pass through the Chancery, Your Highness was pleased to order the insertion of a first and second marginal note [postila] therein, so that it might pass and be registered in the necessary places, notwithstanding the expiry of the time in which it should have been done. And because he, the supplicant, is now occupied in the service of Your Highness in the Province of Beira, and through the omission of his Proctors, the said Decree has still not passed through the Chancery, and the time designated for this has expired.
He requests that Your Highness grant him the favour of ordering a third marginal note, in conformity with the others, so that the said Decree may presently [be processed] as is the custom.
The said petition, and the Decree which it presented, were made available for review by the Crown Prosecutor, and he responded that justice should be done.
