Methodologically, the text combines historical-spatial analysis with a critical urban reading of changes in the coastline, the growing importance of the land border with Zhuhai, and the redesign of the coastline and Cotai, linking these mutations to political decisions and regional integration projects (including the logic of development through road infrastructure and the perspective of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge). It concludes that, despite discourses of integration and modernization, these undertakings reactivate tensions and produce problematic impacts on the future of the border territory, reorienting flows, expectations, and ways of inhabiting and representing the city. |
