the four Consultas listed below, relating
to the Ships of China, to be granted authority
by this accompanying document.

Consulta No. 65, made on 7th November 1643. To this was added
on 21st of the same month and year, together with two Resolutions
by the Minister of State (Miguel de Almeida), written in the margin:
one dated 12th of the same month, November, and another dated
30th December of that year. This Consulta is titled:
*On the Voyage to China and Specific Matters Concerning It,
and the Months in Which the Voyage to the City of Macao Should Take Place,
and the Returns Therefrom.*
Another Consulta and Resolution, made on 3rd December
of the same year, 1643, with a Resolution by the Minister of State
on the same day, concerning whether it would be advisable
that the ships being prepared for China
should proceed directly to Macao, or to India,
and from there proceed to China in rowing vessels;
and within this Consulta are the documents cited and referred to.
Also included is a declaration in the handwriting of Mr. Afonso de Barros,
which was submitted by the shipmaster Marcos Pereira Jacome
in December of the said year, when he was summoned to the
