Not without some apprehension lest I should prejudice the important matters entrusted to Your Excellency, I write this second letter following our recent meeting—during which I observed Your Excellency’s health—and having received, through Your Excellency’s benevolent disposition, the gracious favour of appointing a procurator to petition His Holiness the Pope for the pallium immediately upon Your Excellency’s confirmation as Primate Bishop.
In consequence of this, I enclose herewith the formal power of attorney (procuração), together with blank spaces clearly indicated where the names of the individual(s) whom Your Excellency may wish to appoint for this purpose are to be inserted.
With regard to all instructions issued by Your Excellency, I reaffirm the profound reverence and obedience which my duty obliges me to render.
