Methodologically, the study articulates the reading of macrostructures with the identification of the editorial intentions underlying the use of diverse sources, emphasizing how the selection and ordering of content respond to the objective of producing practical knowledge for sedentary readers and potential travelers. It concludes that the textual architecture of the botanical segment results from an illustrated dissemination strategy oriented toward the market: besides satisfying readers’ “exotic” appetite, it instrumentalizes knowledge derived from the “Book of Nature” for pedagogical and commercial purposes in a context of European expansion. |
