Assuming the Right Reverend [Bishop] is willing to undertake this voyage, I shall sail for China.
Lomeiro — the chief of the three pilots we have selected from India — is appointed to this expedition, departing on 21 October 1641. He may serve as pilot on the outward leg.
We recommend to the Royal Military Governor [Rmg.] the appointment of Lomeiro as captain of the vessel.
Firstly, we propose **Chibhuard**, Senhor Ement. Caua W., Knight of the Order of Christ, who has served the Royal Military Governor for many years in India; was captured at Malacca; and possesses native knowledge and extensive experience navigating the South Seas and the China coast, having undertaken voyages there under royal commission.
Secondly, we propose **Francisco Fentão**, likewise a Knight of the same Order of Christ, who has served continuously in India, including at Cochin, Malacca, and along the South Sea coast; has previously sailed to China; and possesses proven expertise in coastal navigation. Notably, he served as *Sargento-mor* (Sergeant-Major) of the Kingdom of the Count of Cantanhede and as *Capitão-mor* (Captain-General) of two *praos* (light, oared vessels).
Thirdly, we propose to the Royal Military Governor **Captain Manuel Cordiaz**, an exceptionally skilled pilot, fully qualified to serve both as captain and as pilot of the same vessel.
