I told him that yes, and because he was of age and not a knight he would give me a letter for Don Hernando Lindulgo who was in another port and close to the same. So, after going to find him, I left in the night to find him, for fear of being captured, I went to a Portuguese named Jorge Aluēz captain captain of a ship, whom I thought would give me the letter, the one who was friendly to me, the one who Jorge Aluārez took me with him and made me very welcome, taking me by his will to deliver me to the monk Mo Frão, of whom he is a great friend, telling me about his life and what he did, I came to have great esteem for seeing him & walking with me we came to Malacca and along this path Jorge Aluārez informed me that he was a Spaniard and was already quite disposed to accept baptism, and each time grew more determined and then he became Spanish upon our arrival in Malacca, if the vicar general {{PAGE:2}} Southeast Asia [unclear] Japan [unclear] India [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [unclear] [unclear] [unclear] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] {{PAGE:3}} --- Letters from India. Companion Jorge Alves who came from this city of Goa and the pe by or via the land route to visit the Christians at Cape Comorin and thence they arrived at this college but did not tarry long before I, on 24 March 1548, entered the college and at the entrance of March of that year, Fra Traiato arrived and brought with him the priest Mo Fraco who had come from a place of consolation to console me. Upon first sight, he was very moved and fell deeply in love with the service and never wished to depart from it. He was baptized on 6 May of that year during Holy Week and was ordained a minor in the same year on that day. And an attendant of mine who had been sent from Japan also arrived. I hope in God, the Creator of all things, and in His crucified Son who redeemed us through His death and increased his faith. And as many mercies I have received from our Lord, I know this to be true and my soul is so quiet and at rest that I give this testimony with great gratitude for such benefits and ingenuity, and I would die; and my will is that I should continue to write briefly from this college of Loyola, and be impressed by the things of our Lord, and quickly write, read, and have the capacity to receive and retain in memory what Saint Matthew wrote in my land of Japan and in points where the letters and characters are better understood, and the Venerable Religious may see these with love and reach out to me as they have done so far, and not in vain but for glory and praise. And for this to be accomplished and our Lord to assist me in helping the priest Mo Fraco who is ready to depart, he should quickly go to Japan and make me strong so that when it is necessary, I might offer my life for 100 pesos out of love for him, for which I have need of much assistance from Father Ignatius and Father Ignacio de los Mos and heroes of the Company of Jesus, that I may continue to commend myself to God for whom I hope for much fruit from the seed and to see a college established there by our Lord, that He may be glorified and augmented in the sea. He departed from here on 29 November 1548. Served by Paulo de Santa Fé Guitton, P.//
