It concludes that A Embaixada Mártir offers an apologetic reading of the Portuguese legacy in the East, but also a historical narrative that demonstrates how Christianity, in seeking cultural mediations and transnational ties, confronts and is shaped by the reconfiguration of commercial geopolitics and religious repression. |
