Methodologically, the translation follows Kong’s segmentation (20 passages), didactically reorganized into two parts: one dedicated to the foundations of poetry (ideals, emotions, unity with music and dance, "correspondence by affinity," and political-doctrinal role) and the other to a global reading of the Classic of Poetry. In its conclusions, the article maintains that the "Great Preface," regardless of its contested canonization in the Song tradition (reinterpretations by Zhu Xi 朱熹), remains decisive for interpretive orthodoxy, framing the work in notions such as "six aspects" and "four beginnings" and converting it into a theory of the history of the Zhou dynasty. |
