[The party] of whom you are aware, aggrieved, [petitioned] through his procurator, making a request to Your Majesty, asking that you might grant him the favour of ordering that the accounts taken from Núncia [or 'the Nuncio'] regarding Dom Sebastião Lobo, concerning his administration [lit. 'of his Brotherhood'] from the time he was in the government of Maranhão, be brought forward, and that he, the petitioner, be heard on them. And inasmuch as the said most holy Father [or 'the said most holy Father, my master'] named him as a subordinate, and the petition coming before the council, he, the petitioner, had it brought to [his] notice that all the papers and documents that were compiled and produced against the said Dom Sebastião, and [which] were taken from Dr. Diogo Mancado Fernandes Cosme, were removed. And because, [he] acknowledged, the petition he, the petitioner, made to Your Majesty being dismissed, he would not be able to provide information, nor did he doubt being the said petitioner in it.
