The methodology is predominantly theoretical-propositional, articulating scales (from the regional system to the building and the room) and discussing the analytical value of treating infrastructure and border as a single “fabric” capable of uniting and separating territories. The text mobilizes the notion of articulation between private development and sustainable public amenities, proposing that the management of competition and connection, as well as of sovereignty and public use, constitutes the basis of a new urbanism.
As a result, the article proposes the formation of a “Pearl River City” structured by the HKZMB and by a set of new development parcels on elevated platforms and artificial islands, advocating dense development along infrastructures as a way to maximize integration and communication in the connected region. |
